The Ha Nam Pedagogical College has its origins from the Liên khu III Pedagogical School (1950) and the Ha Nam Intermediate Pedagogical School (1959). Between 1989 and 1998, the institution functioned as a Level I Pedagogical College and Nursery Education named the Nam Ha Level I Pedagogical College and Nursery Education.

In 1998, it was upgraded to the Ha Nam Pedagogical College following the Prime Minister’s Decision 129/1998/TTg on July 13, 1998. The college undertakes various tasks such as training kindergarten, primary, and junior high school teachers, offering Intermediate and College-level Pedagogical programs. It also provides training and professional development in other fields beyond pedagogy as per local demands. The college is involved in training educational administrators, conducting scientific research, and collaborates in training kindergarten, primary, and junior high school teachers at the university level.

Prior to 1997, going through phases like the Liên khu III Pedagogical School (1950 – 1956), Ha Nam Intermediate Pedagogical School (1959 – 1965), and various other names, the institution excellently fulfilled its mission of teacher training and development, contributing significantly to the resistance against the French and Americans and the construction of socialism in the North.

From 1997 to 2008, the college trained and developed a total of 12,552 students and learners. Training programs included regular College programs, Distance Learning College Pedagogical programs, regular Intermediate Pedagogical programs, and Distance Learning Intermediate Pedagogical programs, along with cooperative training of kindergarten, primary, and junior high school teachers at the university level. The faculty members are always focused on their own development with 61% holding master’s degrees and 5 individuals pursuing doctoral degrees.

The college has achieved various accomplishments, such as winning prizes in the National Mathematics Olympiad, participating in cultural, sports, scientific research activities, and Party, Labor Union, and Youth Union activities. Its facilities and equipment have been improved and upgraded to ensure the quality of education.

In the following period from 2009 to 2010, the college continued to upgrade its facilities, develop its faculty, diversify its training programs and systems, and actively fulfill its assigned tasks. In 2020, the college celebrated its 75th anniversary of establishment and development.
