The SSS Educational Assistance Loan Program (EALP) is designed to help SSS members and their beneficiaries finance their education. While the SSS does not currently offer a fully online application process for educational loans, you can prepare and submit your application digitally by following these steps:

Step 1: Check Eligibility

Before applying, ensure you meet the following criteria:

  1. Member-Borrower:
    • Must be under 60 years old.
    • Must have at least 36 monthly contributions, with 6 contributions in the last 12 months.
    • Must have a monthly income of PHP 25,000 or less.
    • Must be updated on all SSS loan payments (e.g., salary, housing loans).
  2. Beneficiary:
    • Can be the member, their legal spouse, children (legitimate or illegitimate), or siblings (if the member is single).

Step 2: Prepare Required Documents

Gather the following documents:

  • SSS ID or two valid government-issued IDs.
  • Accomplished EALP Application Form (downloadable from the SSS website).
  • School Assessment/Billing Statement showing tuition and miscellaneous fees.
  • Proof of Income: Payslip, employer’s certification, or Income Tax Return (ITR).
  • Proof of Relationship: Birth certificate, marriage certificate, or other legal documents (if applying for a beneficiary).

Step 3: Download and Fill Out the Application Form

  1. Download the EALP Application Form from the SSS website: SSS EALP Form.
  2. Fill out the form completely, including:
    • Personal information (member and beneficiary).
    • Loan details (amount, purpose, and repayment terms).
    • Certification and agreement sections.

Step 4: Submit the Application

  1. Visit the Nearest SSS Branch: Bring the completed application form and supporting documents to your nearest SSS branch.
  2. Wait for Approval: SSS will evaluate your application and notify you via email or SMS once approved.

Step 5: Claim the Loan

  • If approved, you will receive a check or disbursement notice.
  • The loan amount will be directly paid to the school or deposited into your account, depending on the arrangement.

Loan Details

  • Loan Amount:
    • Degree Courses: Up to PHP 20,000 per semester/trimester/quarter.
    • Vocational/Technical Courses: Up to PHP 10,000 per semester/trimester.
  • Interest Rate:
    • Government Portion: 0% interest.
    • SSS Portion: 6% annual interest.
  • Repayment Terms:
    • Degree Courses: Up to 5 years, starting 18 months after the last loan release.
    • Vocational/Technical Courses: Up to 3 years, starting 18 months after the last loan release.

Important Reminders

  • Ensure all documents are complete and accurate to avoid delays.
  • Notify SSS of any changes in your contact information.
